Hermes Testing ships membrane probe cards, targets SiPh and CPO

Hermes Testing's entry into commercial membrane probe card development marks a pivotal step for Taiwan in advancing high-end semiconductor testing capabilities, especially in silicon photonics and Co-Packaged Optics (CPO). This move intensifies upstream demand for precision testing nodes while creating integration challenges for downstream packaging and testing facilities. From a compliance standpoint, the company’s self-developed products reduce reliance on foreign suppliers, but also heighten exposure to export control risks amid global supply chain realignment. Competitors such as Teradyne and KLA may accelerate localized R&D efforts to counter market encroachment. Over the next 12 to 24 months, as AI and data center demand surges, high-speed testing equipment will become a key battleground. If Hermes can sustain technical momentum, it stands to capture significant market share in the emerging CPO testing segment.
